What is mechanical hackamores?

Mechanical hackamores are a type of bitless bridle that apply pressure to the horse's nose and jaw rather than the mouth. They consist of a noseband with shanks on either side that are attached to reins. When the reins are pulled, the shanks apply pressure to the noseband, which controls the horse's head and neck.

There are several types of mechanical hackamores, including those with long or short shanks, and those with different noseband shapes and thicknesses. Some may also have curb chains or other additional features.

Mechanical hackamores can be effective for controlling horses that have sensitive mouths or dental issues, as well as those that have been trained in a bitless bridle. However, they should be used with caution, as they can be harsh or punishing if used improperly or with excessive force. It is important to choose a well-fitting hackamore that is appropriate for the horse's level of training and sensitivity.
